Senior Project Manager
One of the worlds leading financial information systems and network providers (with Radianz) and worlds leading news agency. A direct client of my company (CME), I had worked with Reuters IT management over a period of years providing them PM and Technical resources at senior level, working on their key change programmes, including myself as assignments herein.
• Asked in by Reuters Intertrade to carry out a quality review to ensure supplier projects and their deliverables met requirements for the overall operational improvements programme, highlighting any concerns to take into supplier negotiations.
• Supplied and vetted Programme Management resource to work on critical business change programmes for Reuters through my own company directly and as a second tier supplier. We received commendations for the work my team did.

Programme Manager
• Programme Manager for the ACH Infrastructure work streams, reporting to head of Infrastructure and overall ACH (Ambulatory Care Hospitals) Programme Manager for Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS, the largest authority in Scotland.
• Responsible for team of technical leads, management of key suppliers and the complete lifecycle through business case and requirements, design, build and delivery into service for infrastructure solutions for the Programme on seven work streams.
• Delivered a major infrastructure work stream in tight timescale and within budget (£1m), which formed the foundation for the ACH Programme, providing a resilient environment including network, virtual server environments (development, testing and production) and storage arrays, in a resilient twin site DR configuration. This supports the main Scottish Care Information databases and applications (portal and store) and feeds from legacy applications (PACS, HIS, PAS) for 2 million patients.
• Developed the solution design, PID and high level delivery and resource plans for the network solution for two new hospitals (£2m budget), to open in 2009 with one of my technical leads. Included the LAN, MAN, wireless and VOIP, also with Cisco.
• With Infrastructure Services Manager, developed the PID and facilitated workshops with Microsoft for the desktop migration and solution for the new hospital infrastructures - zero touch standard desktops, Active Directory and NHS applications suite.
• Managed delivery plans, reporting, risks and issues from all work streams into the Programme Board in line with MSP and Prince2 standards. This approach led to massive improvement in delivery and quality and was adopted across the programme.
• Worked closely with managers and teams across the authority from support to applications to senior users and clinicians, facilitating workshops on the infrastructure work streams as the key point of contact to the rest of IT and the business.
• Directed the applications testing and support teams and work stream project managers, liaising with applications development partners (account directors) in the creation of test plans / strategies and developing these in line with my overall delivery plan.

Senior Project Manager
Responsible for the QB Decoupling projects reporting to the Technology Programme Director, as part of a major migration programme for JPM, a global leader in investment management with $3.1 trillion of managed funds and assets.
• Provided leadership and guidance to teams of developers, business analysts, test leads, SA’s, DBA’s (matrix managed) and suppliers and their resources on and off site on all project tasks across eight work streams (3 large, 5 medium sized).
• Directed all planning activities, risks and issues alongside the Snr Business PM reporting to the business sponsors and overall migration programme and representing the decoupling Tranche of projects on the various meetings and steering committees.
• Delivered through full SDLC - new and updated applications and infrastructure in order to achieve the decoupling of Threadneedle Asset Management back office IT functions and resource, to be hosted and managed by JP Morgan Chase.
• Involved full lifecycle management of changes to business process and applications such as Unit Dealing (OMSTP), Cash payments, Trade allocations handling, associated reporting subsystems and a completely new trade exception handling system.
• Working to very tight timescales, my main directive was to successfully deliver the decoupling projects through design, build, testing (unit, system, SIT, UAT) and into production by end of Oct 2007 in time for the main migration, which we achieved.
• Main systems involved - Microsoft .NET (Wintel, server and desktop) and Unix environments (Sun) from test to production, MS SQL, IIS, Heliograph (Checkfree), HiPort, PACE, Millennium, RSS/2 as well as Tibco and MQ hub messaging frameworks. Development environments included standard Java, MS SQL, XML and bespoke existing systems from suppliers.

• Directed the Development Infrastructure Transition – a sub-Programme of the NHS SPINE Programme, one of the largest civilian I.T. Programmes in the world (£6.2Billion, 2 million+ users). Reported directly to directorate and programme heads.
• Responsible for the full SDLC and a team of Technical PM’s, design, build and support resources, providing leadership, guidance and direction as well as being accountable for delivery of the multiple projects that comprised the transition piece.
• In parallel, managed and ensured the current operational service to the entire development effort on Spine with my teams.
• Management of full time and contract resources including 12 direct and 40+ matrix managed from core skills groups across BTGS in the UK, U.S. and India as well as supplier relationships and their staff working alongside my team.
• Budget authority for all labour and materials for the Development transition with directorate / finance heads (£4M of £23M).
• Achieved £2M+ savings whilst massively reducing infrastructure overheads by improved design and use of virtualisation and deployment technologies and new Datacentre model. Included uplift of very large Sun / Oracle / Cisco environment.
• Successfully transformed the Development / test environments from disparate locations to a new designed and managed infrastructure based at three linked UK Datacentres. Included infrastructure and links to our partner Datacentre in Mumbai.
• Created the Spine test lab from released assets (Sun, MS, Cisco) in a challenging timescale, saving at least £300k and meeting an urgent requirement to allow engineering / architecture to test a new messaging platform model in time for a major release.
• Ensured due diligence in all aspects of solution provision and compliance to Prince2, MSP, CMMi and SDLC best practice competencies as part of a large initiative to be CMMi level 3 compliant. Collectively named “the Spine method”.
• Promoted from Initial role as Project Manager for the “Authentication Systems Improvements”, which provided the front end secure chip on card access to NHS systems. Managed a team of developers & testers internally and from our main suppliers to deliver the solution through development and testing ready for inclusion in a production release.

• Developed a ‘Solution Hardening’ programme with business sponsors to address shortcomings across their ICT programme for their local government client. This involved revisiting all aspects of the ICT solution architecture as well as suppliers, delivery and support service frameworks, recommending and documenting in detail the specific solution changes at design, build and support levels to optimise the operational cost for the whole ICT solution. Projected saving of at least £2m p.a.
• Developed an innovative solution for a healthcare project with revenue of £150k in one month and £2m projected over 2 years.

BT Global ServicesLeading UK Telco and I.T. service provider. Budget £14m, 40+ matrix managed resources internally and from suppliers. Worked closely with the Programme Manager and Account Director reporting to the senior BT executive and VP directly.
• Enabled BT to recover their position in a foundational outsourced Middle Markets ICT account by implementing a tactical fix plan including the provision of a new managed data centre (24x7) and network (LAN and broadband / IPClear WAN).
• As ‘owner and evangelist’ of the I.T. architecture I led many initiatives including XP desktop rollouts (400 sites). Upgrades to win2k, Citrix, Exchange, SMS and SUS servers. Defined projects for Active Directory, Disaster Recovery and security , working closely with the client I.T. and Business Managers we developed a SOA and strategy and I.T. roadmap to achieve it.
• Highly commended by the Programme board and offered a full time job by BTGS but due to having other clients and consultants in my company at the time to consider, I gracefully declined the offer but would work with BTGS again above.
