For five years I was an Area Fundraising Manager managing 60 volunteers and organising community fundraising events, promoting the charity to companies, groups and the public
For four years I was given special responsibility for fundraising projects and created the charity’s overseas challenge events portfolio and initiated a new national event – the Big Book Fetch. Duties included building project plans, coordinating team activity, managing a budget, liaising with internal departments and working in partnership with external agencies

I managed a small team responsible for public relations of the charity’s retail network and coordinated a schedule of shop openings, shop anniversaries and fashion shows. I produced press releases, acted as media spokesperson, produced monthly press coverage reports, and edited a magazine for volunteers.

As a senior reporter in a district office of a large, regional daily newspaper I was part of a small but energetic team responsible for producing one of four daily editions. I produced copy to three daily deadlines on subjects ranging from crime, emergencies, features and human-interest stories to court and council copy and theatre reviews.

I sourced and wrote news copy for a weekly newspaper, I deputised for the editor and was involved in the complete procedure of producing a newspaper from news gathering and writing to subbing, page-layout and production.

My duties included writing for all sections of the newspaper including news, features, motoring, property and entertainment. I later learned subbing and page layout.
