Particularly I learned real-time networking, which was theoretical before, now it’s practical.

Administrative Assistant

Joined during crisis period due to low staffing at JSJS that was running 3 community development projects on CLAIT, ESOL and Food & Hygiene. Without training learnt office procedures rapidly; organised 2-4 weekly board meetings for management. Took minutes at the meetings and participated in constructive discussion on meeting agenda. Prepared documentation for the running and future projects and liaison with the existing and perspective clients of projects.

Helped clients of JSJS to find the right job by searching the internet and the job description provided by the employers. Helped clients to apply for the job they were interested in by making sure they filled in the right application form correctly or filled in the online application form correctly, and where possible ringed the employer for an interview.

Managed computerised database system for maintaining client records and took weekly backups of records. Achieved goal, and slashed backlog caused by staff crisis. Exceeded expectations and was offered employment during university vacations.
